To provide the opportunity for your growth in two areas.
A deeper knowledge of the Word of God.
A deeper connection with godly men and women. Close, accountable, encouraging relationships. Great friendships. A majority of what I have learned that really mattered, came through close friends and not pastors…
These are the two things that are vital for your growth in Jesus Christ. As life happens, you are going to be challenged. When these trials come, these two realities will greatly increase your ability to be successful and glorify God!
There will be weekly meeting at different locations around the city. During these meetings we will:
There will be a part for you to play. An investment for you to make. Any growth takes investment and it’s the same with your spiritual life. I know you already come to church on Sunday. That’s awesome. I don’t think you need an additional Bible study. I know your time is valuable and I believe that instead of a quantity of Bible studies, we should focus on the quality of ministry. The Church needs relationships. You and I need them. And it’s challenging to develop them on just Sunday mornings.
So, we will be starting our first 10 week fall season the second week of September and it will run through the second week of November. The second winter season will be January through early March and the Spring season will be Late March through May.
Some groups may choose to be continuous after they get established.
The groups will be a place for you to develop relationships. So, I encourage you to pick a group not based on location but on the leader that you feel you can identify or relate to the most comfortably. We will have some specialty groups that can help you zero in on a more specific area of focus. Like women and young adult…
You may try different groups to find one that really connects. The only commitment that we ask is that you give the first 3 weeks of the season as a commitment. After that, if you want to make a change or drop out, we would encourage you to do so. It’s up to you whether you find a new group right away or wait for the next season to try a new one. No hard feelings. No grudges. No weird looks at church. No one is holding you hostage.
But if the group is one you want to commit to after 3 weeks then please follow through till the end of the season. Our hope is that you would be in the same group year after year and grow with the same people as deeply connected brothers and sisters in the Lord but we know that it can take a couple groups sometimes to find the right fit. So, we want to make it easy for you to do that.
On Sunday’s, we will provide the Anchored Deep Page. That is a take home reference and study guide that will help you connect the Sunday sermon with what you will discuss and share at your Anchor group. Yes. This is homework. I know we all hoped we would never ever see that again after we graduated HS but it’s quite effective as a learning and application tool. You will bring your Anchored Deep Page to your group during the week.
Anchor Groups are for adults. Nursing children and infants are welcome as long as they don’t distract from the group as a whole. Some groups might provide their own childcare but that is not required of them. We recommend that you arrange a babysitter for the season or swap sitting with another family that wants to meet on a different night.
